According to its website, the Color-Dyed Patina process undertaken by éxplorism – based in New York and more than 70 years old – is extensive. “The customization process consists of applying a navy or brown base on a white pair of leather shoes before soothing the surface through a delicate hand-massaging technique. The shoe is then placed in a temperate environment to fully absorb the dye. Once this step is finished, our craftsmen are able to carefully create a burnishing and ‘brushstroke’ effect onto the leather.” (photo by Yanek Che / Meniscus Magazine)
