Carmen Marc Valvo Spring 2016: Tightly edited zen

Carmen Marc Valvo sent out a tightly edited, zen-inspired Spring 2016 collection of evening wear, swimsuits, and a smattering of men’s outfits in predominantly red, white and black. Minis with simply cut halter tops and crew necks in color blocking paved the way for fancier dresses mimicking a koi’s scales.  Maillots were paired with palazzo pants in crane or peony prints. Standouts included a sleeveless, pleated gown accented with black, shiny leather that fell in sharp icicles over the skirt portion, and a scarlet gown with a swirling pleated skirt accented with orange and black tones. Valvo may have been heavy handed with the color blocking theme, but the texture, embroidery and prints provided a balanced foil. Men’s looks blended in perfectly with the women’s in coordinating prints and textures.
