“Alex of Venice” made its world premiere at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival on Apr. 18. First-time director Chris Messina also acted in the film, starring alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who played the title character. In addition to Messina and Winstead, various crew, cast members and guests made appearances on the red carpet before the screening, including Don Johnson, Katie Nehra, Derek Luke and Mindy Kaling (Messina plays the role of Danny Castellano in Kaling’s television series, The Mindy Project).
