Swarovski, Yoko Ono collaborate on jewelry collection

The Spring 2013 collections got under way in New York with a star-studded party headlined by Nadja Swarovski and Yoko Ono.  While, at first glance, the Austrian luxury crystal company and the Japanese avant-garde modern artist may not have much in common, the collaboration turned out to be a perfect match.

At a party in the Swarovski Crystallized boutique in Manhattan’s SoHo neighborhood, Ono talked about how her collaboration was inspired by her limited edition art piece titled “Glass Keys to Open the World.”  Translating those rare works into crystal as wearable jewelry 46 years later, she said, speaks of the “spiritual power” that the key symbolizes for her.

“Make your wish and put it on,” Ono advised the crowd, which included Alek Wek, Julianne Moore, Bruce Weber and Elizabeth Olsen.

Pieces in the Swarovski Jewelry Collection Inspired by the Yoko Ono Key Design range from US$90 to $410.  To order, go to swarovski.com.
