Although Bunka is the most well-known fashion school in Japan, it was another institution that struck first in New York. In a move from Paris to New York for Fall 2012, Japanese fashion school Vantan Tokyo sent four students to New York to show capsule collections at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. These talented designers were Cheryl Chee, Masato Miyata, Yuya Kubohara and Cheung Siu Yan. Part of the school’s “International X-Seed” program, the student designers received instruction in English and Japanese throughout their coursework.
