Inspiration: For her Fall/Winter 2012 collection titled “The Oriental Winter Garden,” Korean designer Son Jung Wan turned to artist Marc Quinn for her inspiration. The British artist has used the garden theme in a series of works in the early 2000’s, ranging from a frozen garden – in which more than 100 plants from around the world were captured in time at the Fondazione Prada in Milan – to a set of photographic prints, “Winter Garden,” which amplified the colors of the flowers.
Clients: The American actress Kelly Rutherford, who often wears Son’s designs on the red carpet, and Jessica Jung, a Korean American member of the K-pop group Girls Generation. “She loves me,” Son said with a laugh in an interview with Meniscus Magazine before the show. “She is my fan – she came to my show in Korea.”
Double duty: As she did last season, Son once again pulled double duty by showing several looks from her Fall 2012 collection at the Concept Korea collective, now in its fifth edition.
