Scene at New York Fashion Week: Spring 2007 Edition III

Awfully, fashionably late: Curious logistics overrode an otherwise excellent, albeit short, show by the young designer Esteban Cortazar. The show, which was scheduled at 9 p.m., didn’t actually open its doors until much later. Even fashionista Patrick McDonald was relegated to the rest of the crowd – presumably most of it with the dubious status of “VIP” standing room-only – packed in a small space and waiting to burst through. Once the doors finally opened, it took even longer to start. It was well past 10 p.m. when the lights dimmed. As The San Jose Mercury News put it, it is one thing if this was a Marc Jacobs show…

Other highlights from the show included one model halting her walk in the middle of the runway to take off both of her pesky heels (some applauded) and model Amber Valletta sitting in the front row. Cortazar gave her “very special thanks” in his program as opposed to the rest of the names, who merely received “special thanks.”

The show before the show: Certain shows always attract tons of star power, and one of those is Zac Posen’s at the tents. A partial list of the who’s who included Kate Bosworth, Kanye West, Lauren Hutton, socialite Tinsley Mortimer, Vogue editor-at-large Andre Leon Talley and French Vogue editor-in-chief Carine Roitfeld.

Earlier that evening, Carol Alt was spotted once again, this time sitting in the front row of Joanna Mastroianni’s show.
