Andy & Debb Fall 2009 – New York Fashion Week Review

The Korean husband-and-wife duo of Andy & Debb – Andy Kim and Debbie Yoon – showed for the second time at the Bryant Park tents. They are, however, no strangers to the Big Apple: the couple met as classmates at the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.

The first three-quarters of their women’s Fall/Winter 2009 collection featured a number of basics that were pleasant on the eye but unfortunately lacked a “wow” factor. Some pieces, such as coats and jackets, were too shapeless, while bustiers needed more material and support.

The designs then kicked up several notches in the last quarter of the show. Sharp pleating provided volume and form to a light green draped silk jersey dress paired with a vest and, in the best piece of the collection, the front side of a copper sequined mini dress was accessorized by a large black organza-winged adornment stretching from the collar bone down to the waist.
