Francesca Liberatore Spring 2016: Few standouts

Francesca Liberatore sent out predominantly orange and black pieces, combined with beading and embroidery for her Spring 2016 collection titled “The Heart Is the Center.” One standout look included a Swarovski crystal embroidered in a delicate human heart shape emblazoned across a tulle dress (itself bordered in orange embroidery).  Another was an orange and white off-the-shoulder button down dress with a human heart print.

However, on the whole, the collection was mostly unsuitable for the masses, unless the wearer is a model enjoying a long vacation on a tropical island. Many of the pieces included see-through lace or mesh, so they can be layered, but one had better possess the confidence to pull it off.  Excess pleating awkwardly accented dresses and tops, and was an unnecessary adornment. Liberatore is capable of much more; hopefully a different look will emerge next season.
