Japanese Lolita fashion takes on New York

Just before the New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 collections began, the Japanese Lolita fashion trend made popular during the 1990’s – and still going strong today – hit the runway at the Japan Society on Feb. 5.  A panel titled “Lolita Fashion: Costume or Culture?” was headlined by Misako Aoki, who has represented the Japanese government in promoting the fashion trend worldwide.  Following the discussion was a fashion show featuring the label Baby, the Stars Shine Bright (also the label that Aoki and other guests wore).
