WNBA 2017: Delle Donne’s double-double carries Mystics past Wings in playoffs

Sep. 6, 2017, Capital One Arena, Washington, D.C. – It is often said that defense wins you games.  Despite shooting just 40 percent, the Washington Mystics managed to keep the Dallas Wings below 34 percent while enjoying an advantage of 10 more rebounds.  These two factors alone ultimately gave the Mystics (19-16) a 86-76 victory in the opening round of the WNBA playoffs.

Two of the Mystics, Krystal Thomas and Emma Meesseman, had 17 and 10 rebounds respectively, while Elena Delle Donne had a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds.

The Wings’ Aerial Powers contributed 21 points off the bench.  Glory Johnson had 14 rebounds and 15 points.
