Ruffian Spring 2013: Delightfully devoid of hipsters

Ruffian designers Claude Morais and Brian Wolk turned to their residence – the increasingly gentrified Brooklyn neighborhood of Williamsburg – as inspiration for their Spring 2013 women’s collection at New York Fashion Week.  Thankfully, the collection sidestepped the pretentious hipster looks that currently dominate that geographical area in favor of pretty pink, yellow and green pastels; soft bows; and graphical motifs that depict famed Williamsburg haunts.  Plenty of pieces, from peplum jackets to shift dresses to leggings, offered multiple possibilities for layering.  Rounding out the playful collection’s dose of casual chic?  Converse sneakers.
