Win a signed DVD or poster of “A Leading Man” from Meniscus Magazine!

Three years ago, we provided an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the set of “A Leading Man,” the directorial debut of Steven J. Kung.  Since then, the movie has traveled the film festival circuit, made its way to Asian American syllabi at various universities, and has been theatrically released.

Now, to celebrate the recent DVD and Blu-Ray release of “A Leading Man,” Meniscus Magazine is giving away two DVDs and one poster of the film!  Even better, the DVDs will be signed by Kung, whereas the poster will be autographed by him as well as two cast members, Jack Yang and Heather Mazur. As a bonus, the DVD includes the high-definition version of Meniscus Magazine reporter Jim Higgins’ interview with Kung, Yang and producer Justin Bell (the lo-res version on YouTube is included below).

About the film “A Leading Man”: When a young and talented Chinese American actor is fired from a starring role on a television show, he attempts to salvage his career by entering into a romantic relationship with a successful casting director. Everyone is happy for rising actor GuoQiao (GQ, played by Jack Yang) – the network, his mother, his best friend – everyone except GQ himself. Heʼs stuck playing an offensive stereotype on a television sitcom, and the day he decides to speak up for himself on set, the executive producer fires him. Struggling to pick up the pieces, he starts dating A-list casting director Rachel (Heather Mazur). Love and work are intertwined as he gives her sex; she gives him auditions. Their relationship survives the protestations of GQʼs mother, Pat, and best friend, David, but starts to show strain as it becomes clear that GQ is unable to land another acting gig. Frustrated with Rachelʼs inability to produce results, GQ takes interest in a celebutante actress who tests his ambition and fidelity. As pressures from work, love and family come to a head, GQ must confront the hard question: How much of himself will he compromise for career success?  To learn more about the film, go to, and follow social media updates on Twitter and Facebook.
