FILM "Paju": It has been seven years between “Paju” and Park Chan-ok’s directorial debut, “Jealousy is My Middle Name,” and she has no doubt used this extended period to refine her material into what I do not hesitate to call a masterpiece. by Christopher Bourne "Possessed": Lee Yong-ju’s elegantly stylish horror film takes on the controversial subject of religion and makes it the driving force of his narrative. by Christopher Bourne The 2010 Tribeca Film Festival: Finnish rugby, martial arts, cults and more: The Tribeca Film Festival, which has now fully taken over Chelsea and the East Village, was back in town with a diverse slate of films. by Yuan-Kwan Chan FASHION With the long term in mind, Japan Fashion Week draws in New York for one night: Coinciding with New York Fashion Week, the Fall 2010 preview played out to a packed SoHo loft as live models wore the designs of eight labels in rotating presentation style. Reviews: @IZREEL: Designer Kazuhiro Takakura threw every single article of clothing and accessory in the book – stopping short of a Thom Browne floor-length skirt suit – in his latest men’s collection. Entoptic: The predominately black, slouchy clothing would have been better suited for a presentation rather than a runway show given their casual nature. Gut's Dynamite Cabarets: While this Fall/Winter 2010 men’s and women’s collection isn’t intended to provide red carpet fare, it IS for those who want to wind up the establishment and have a lot of fun in the process. Somarta: It may have been a fall collection, but Somarta’s latest offering started off with a number of looks in white, of all colors. FILM "Accident": While “Accident” is a worthy attempt to marry the downbeat, despairing mood of Soi Cheang's previous films with Johnnie To-style genre mechanics, it isn’t an entirely successful one. "Mademoiselle Chambon": Like Cedric Kahn’s “Regrets,” this film concerns a man’s temptation to leave his wife for another woman. However, Stéphane Brizé opts for a quieter, lower-keyed mood, resulting in a beautifully made film. "Regrets": A chance encounter with an old flame turns very quickly into amour fou in Cedric Kahn’s well-acted but numbingly repetitive new film “Regrets.” FASHION In addition to our articles below, our complete coverage includes photo galleries of the following shows: ADAM, Arise Magazine African Fashion Collective, the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation winners, Edition by Georges Chakra, Naomi Campbell's Fashion for Relief show benefiting Haiti, Prabal Gurung, Tadashi Shoji and Vassilios Kostetsos.
