Known for her beautifully detailed, unceasingly girly and surprisingly sensible clothes, Nanette Lepore delivered yet another fearlessly feminine collection down the runway.
The line featured floral prints, ruffles, intricate beading and thin stripes. Soft colors ranging from creams, khakis, pale greens, reds to a delectable turquoise added to the ease and lightheartedness of the line. One of my personal favorites was a brown striped dress that had turquoise satin ribbon woven across the bodice and peeking through the ruffles of the skirt (pictured below).
At the end of the show, Lepore and her daughter took a bow in "Save the Garment Center" t-shirts to which they added their own personal frilly touches. The message was also emblazoned across the set backdrop, as this season’s designers hoped to raise awareness of the zoning-law changes affecting Manhattan’s Garment District that allows landlords to push fabric and trim suppliers and factories out and big commercial business in. Activism is so très chic!
