Dragana Ognjenovic - New York Fashion Week Spring 2007 Review

Bryant Park, Sept. 9, 2006 Solid. That would be the adjective for the colors used in every single one of Dragana Ognjenovic’s 48 looks, but also for the Belgrade-based designer’s sophomore effort at New York Fashion Week.

Ognjenovic’s minimalist collection shined in the subtle details: a curve instead of a straight line, a ruffle instead of a hem, a wrinkle instead of smooth fabric. Ognjenovic – who is also an artist, graphic and interior designer, and television art director – proves that basic does not have to mean boring. In particular, her use of wraps to cover the torso over tightly fitted tops managed to carry a three-dimensional quality that also flattered the silhouette. And with fun names for looks such as "cupcake dress," "neverending-leg pants" and "little black jacket," these clothes make for sophisticated wear in the office or at an evening function.
