The annual Miss New York Chinese Beauty Pageant is open to women between the ages of 17 to 25. More than 100 applicants applied for the opportunity to win the 2006 title, a $10,000 scholarship, a tiara worth more than $30,000, and the right to represent New York at the Miss Chinese International Pageant in Hong Kong.

#13 Sirena Wang: When she first spoke with Meniscus, she spoke of her desire to return to her roots after spending the last six years in the deep South. After the pageant, it was "Mission: Accomplished" for the winner.
#9 Susan Liu: This year's third runner-up, whose path took her from China to American Samoa to Pennsylvania, was inspired by the success of a past winner to enter the pageant.
