Ruffian – New York Fashion Week Spring 2012 Review One of our editors, looking at past womenswear collections, guessed that the quasi-masculine Ruffian label screamed Kirsten Dunst. He later learned he was right on the mark when the actress was listed in New York Magazine as a fan of the designs co-created by Brian Wolk and Claude Morais. With a Spring 2012 collection titled “Thoroughbred,” Ruffian (also the name of a champion racehorse) presented a fitting combination of boyish cuts – notably on blazers – and feminine ruffles on puffy sleeves. Block colors dominated the solid but unspectacular collection, which included hot pink and bright yellow, and details such as diagonal stripes cutting across light pliable fabrics like silk, satin and chiffon saved the clothes from appearing too plain.
