The New York Fashion Week Fall 2009 collections began with a show promoting The Heart Truth, a campaign promoting heart disease awareness. As in years past, this season included notable actresses, athletes and personalities such as Olympic gold medalist Nastia Liukin (winner of the gymnastics all-around at the Beijing Games), “Wonder Woman” Lynda Carter (who lip-synced down the runway), and actress/singer Hilary Duff.
Each celebrity wore a red dress created by a different designer; Duff’s pairing with Donna Karan was a natural due to her recent work with DKNY Jeans on an apparel line, and Liukin donned Max Azria, for whom she is starring in a Spring 2009 advertising campaign.
Four dresses in the collection – those worn by Daisy Fuentes, Jane Kaczmarek, Carter and Valerie Bertinelli – will be auctioned off for charity at www.clothesoffourback.org, a program founded by Kaczmarek and her husband Bradley Whitford. Bidding ends Feb. 27.
