Kontinen, Peers win 2017 Citi Open doubles championship

Aug. 6, 2017, Washington D.C. – The No. 1-ranked men’s doubles team of Henri Kontinen (FIN) and John Peers (AUS) made a last-minute decision to enter the tournament.  They ended up winning their first Citi Open championship against the World No. 3 Lukasz Kubot (POL) and Marcelo Melo (BRA) team in straight sets, 7-6 (5), 6-4.

Washington tennis fans were treated with the reigning Australian Open doubles champions in Kontinen and Peers, and the 2017 Wimbledon doubles champions in Kubot and Melo.
