CUNE, Major Minor, NurZahra – Fall 2014 Tokyo Fashion Week

CUNE: The Fall 2014 presentation held at Shibuya’s famed nightclub included a curious collaboration with insecticide Varsan (Lion Corporation), the former taking advantage of the latter’s visual branding. The clothes were very utilitarian and miltary-esque, with a touch of Andy Warhol.

Major Minor: Sharing the runway with fellow Indonesian label NurZahra, Major Minor’s Fall 2014 collection was inspired by the artwork of Philippe Cognee and the photography of Bona Soetirto. Save a couple of looks, the designs were a bit uninteresting, dominated by colorblocking and a color scheme of black, white, blue, red and one print.

NurZahra: A label part of an emerging trend of high-end Muslim women’s fashion, NurZahra presented a likeable aesthetic. The mix of the mostly indigo-colored prints and the different fabrics were lovely, as well as the really long, loose silhouettes somewhat reminiscent of Yohji Yamamoto. Despite the wide spectrum of fabrics and patterns, the looks were styled very well for a cohesive look and were accented with Indonesian handmade jewelry by the label Litany.
