alice auaa Fall 2014 – Tokyo Fashion Week

It’s not every day that you get to view steampunk S&M outfits being sent down the runway as high-end couture.  As expected, alice auaa designer Yasutaka Funakoshi presented another fantastical and theatrical show – the title of his Fall 2014 collection was “The Grave of a Beast” – to his super-loyal fans.

All of the models’ faces were covered in a leather, armor-like contraption, and almost all wore stiletto leather, thigh-high boots. Outfits (mostly in black) featured spikes, mesh, fringe, trench coats, skirts, corsets and underwear, and materials such as goatskin, flannel, velvet and mohair.  Each look was unique in its own way, but two stood out from the others: one of these thanks to the pairing of an S&M head covering with a ruffly jacket and skirt, the other with furry leg covers and leather underwear.
