Czar by Cesar Galindo Fall 2013: No focus

At the Czar by Cesar Galindo Fall 2013 runway show, there was something for every woman, no matter what climate she lives in or special occasion she has to attend.  However, this was not necessarily a good thing, as the collection overall lacked focus.

The show started off strong – particularly notable was a fitted royal blue jacquard weave cap sleeve dress worn with an equestrian hat wrapped with a furry taxidermied animal, as well as a fitted brick red knit dress with a sculpted boatneck that framed the model’s face.

These elegant looks soon became mixed in with party outfits fit for a fresh 20-something looking for a good time at a New York City rooftop bar (cue the silver paillette V-neck tunic/minidress) and with weekend clothes appropriate for a chic 40-ish suburban woman out on a grocery store run (look no further than the knit v-neck poncho paired with leggings).  Confusingly, there were also maxi dresses in the mix that each had nice volume but looked out of place.  One gray drape-neck halter dress was quite lovely in its simplicity, but which was then followed shortly by garishly-printed silk pieces.
