Bangkok Runway 2013 kicks off with J-pop themed fashion show

The FamilyMart Asia Collection festivities in Bangkok launched Nov. 29 with an upbeat, playful fashion show featuring models from the Thai versions of Japanese magazines RayS-Cawaii and Vivi.  Hosted by television presenter Paloy Harwong at the CentralWorld shopping mall, models strutted down the runway to bouncy J-pop music.  The audience saved the loudest applause, and loads of surprised gasps, for the 20-year-old half-Belgian, half-Thai actress Mai Davika Hoorne (ดาวิก้า โฮร์เน).

FamilyMart, the Japanese convenience store chain with more than 20,000 branches across Asia, selected Bangkok as one of five cities to stage contests to determine future potential magazine and runway models.  (The other cities are Ryukyu, Japan; Ho Chi Minh City; Shanghai; and Taipei.)  The Bangkok Runway 2013 winner, to be chosen Jan. 12, will receive THB100,000 (approximately US$3330), appear in editorial shoots and have a chance to walk in the Tokyo Runway 2013 show.
