Prete & Bruno – Fall 2012 New York Fashion Week Review

In what was an exceptionally strong season of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week collections, Prete & Bruno emerged as one of the few blemishes.  Italian designers Salvatore Prete and Filippo Bruno made their New York debut by supposedly drawing from the inspirations of actresses Marlene Dietrich and Grace Kelly.  Unfortunately, their designs came across as unpolished and, in some cases, unfinished.  Bright green was an especially poor color choice throughout, particularly in very thin cuts of chiffon for frayed skirts, cheapening the intention to channel “the tradition of European couture houses,” as the show notes claimed.
