Rafael Cennamo Fall 2012 – New York Fashion Week

Two seasons ago, upon exiting a fashion show at Lincoln Center, a security guard begged everyone to please check out a presentation simultaneously taking place in the Box – the smallest of the four venues at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week tents.  What greeted us in an otherwise empty room was a surprising group of exquisite evening gowns that, frankly, should have received a larger viewership than it did.

Thankfully, the audience that Cennamo deserved were treated to a similarly impressive assortment of 24 looks, comprising a natural extension from his roots as a bridal designer.  Cennamo, who began his career in Venezuela before moving to New York, presented a Fall 2012 offering that ranged from off-the-shoulder cocktail dresses to form-fitting sleeveless numbers.  He favored geometry throughout the collection, showcasing drapery and angles accented with flattering details such as mesh, lace and beads.
