Geren Ford – New York Fashion Week Spring 2009 Review

Los Angeles-based Geren Ford – helmed by designer Geren Lockhart – showed for the first time in the Big Apple on a terrace at the Bowery Hotel. The presentation featured models standing atop white cubes who, midway through, sashayed past onlookers to change into a second round of clothes backstage and reemerge for another look.

Colorful, fun and funky, the layered casual clothing was accented by edgy accoutrements such as round metal snap closures, shiny square buttons, and long scarves with hand-drawn, onion-shaped flower motifs. Even the pairing of anklet socks with high heels, usually a visual distraction, worked in most cases.
