Joanna Mastroianni – New York Fashion Week Spring 2007 Review

Bryant Park – Veteran Joanna Mastroianni unveiled an exquisite Spring 2007 collection that comprised different styles and colors, yet made the sum of these parts equal to a cohesive and elegant whole. Mastroianni’s use of accents in particular – beads in shades of tangerine and white, embroidery and accessories – served a purpose as opposed to adding unnecessary, frivolous detail. Her pieces, which drew from European and Asian influences, steadily built towards the final show-stopper, an incongruous and jaw-dropping hot pink silk cape that dominated the top half of a black gown.
